GREETINGS:
I hope you'll join us this Friday, Lucky 13th for another gathering of the
NGHWA
hypnosis professionals and enthusiasts at the PUD! Next two meeting dates
have
been finalized: Dec. 11th, 2009 & Jan 8th, 2010. This month's meeting
features
Lisa Mills, Certified Hypnotherapist and HypnoCoach™, offering a powerful
presentation on emotions. I don't know how you FEEL about that, but it's got
me
plenty excited and full of positive anticipation. And the title alone has
me
hungry for ice cream! Here's more details:
KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
This month's speaker is Lisa Mills. Her topic is "WHEN YOU'RE OUT OF GAS, DO
YOU
DRIVE TO DAIRY QUEEN?."
Lisa says:
Of course not, you go to a gas station. A Peanut Buster Parfait can't fuel
a
car. But if you don't understand what those indicators on your dashboard
are
trying to tell you, when the red lights start flashing, you may well take
an
inappropriate, ineffective, or even detrimental action to alleviate the
anxiety
all those red lights cause.
Our feelings and emotions are like those lights and gauges on a car's
dashboard.
They're there to give us information - but what are they trying to tell us?
What
are those feelings for? As hypnotists, we work with people's emotions and
feelings all the time. If we don't understand what our client's feelings
are
for, how can we be sure that what we do is helpful,or effective?
During this talk you'll learn what emotions are for, how to interpret what
they're telling us, and appropriate actions to take to satisfy those
feelings.
With this knowledge you'll be equipped to more effectively help your clients,
as
well as yourself.

FEATURED ARTICLE:
"Turning Point" by Connie Brannan, CHt.
I woke up the other day, actually lingering in that space between
wakefulness
and sleep, that powerful place of connection with my unconscious mind--and
the
words came to me: "turning point." Huh? Turning point what? I wasn't sure
what that meant, but it was clear to me that it was massively important.
In
fact, it is!
It's the main piece of the puzzle that moves thinkers to doers. It sparks
action. It's a realization. It's a mind set. It's a knowing that what you
desire is a sure thing and NOW is the time for forward movement. Thinking
about
making a change in your life may be excrutiatingly long and painful. But
when
you reach that magical "turning point" in your mind, you just KNOW. It's
time.
And knowing that, change is instant. It just happens. If the change is
something like re-shaping your body, it does take time to manifest--but
the
important change itself has already happened. That snowball is rollin' down
the
hill!
Here's a simple technique to help shift your mind into "turning point"
mode.
This technique convinces your unconscious mind that what you want (your
well-formed goal) is a "done deal" and therefore you find yourself doing
what
you must do to make it happen.
Think about your lunch yesterday. Yesterday is in your mind. Now,
physically
point to yesterday. Where is it? Is it in front of you, behind you, up,
down,
left, right? Find yesterday in space. There it is! Excellent! Now, find
tomorrow! Where is tomorrow in space? Where is that located? Now, connect
the
dots!
By the way, there are no right or wrong answers here. Everyone is
different.
What we're doing here is eliciting a "timeline." When you take the point
of
yesterday and the point of tomorrow, and connect those dots, you can
imagine
them forming a line. A line representing your life. Your past. One
direction.
Your present. Where your body is right now. Your future, another, possibly
opposing direction. It's not always a straight line. It could be an arc,
it
could be a Vee-shape. It could be something else. Most common is a line!
My
timeline has the past to my left, and the future to my right. I'm sitting
smack
dab in the here and now. I'm not actually IN my timeline, it sits in front
of
me, and I can see it. (I like it that way!) Find your timeline. What does
it
look like? It may resemble a beam of light, like a light sabre. It may be
like
Dorothy's yellow brick road. Mine is a beautiful ribbon. Like satin. It
could
be a rainbow. Part 1. Find your timeline.
Next, be sure you have a goal in mind. You know what you want, when and
where
and with whom you want it, how it would look and feel and be and sound and
taste
to have it, that it's realistic and doable, that it's something you can
initiate
and maintain by yourself, that it makes sense for the whole of your life,
for
all aspects of your life. Create an image, a symbol representing that
goal.
Maybe it's a shape. Maybe it's red triangle, maybe it's an etching on a
slate
tile, maybe it's a glowing sphere of energy, maybe it's a word floating in
space, it can be anything. Something that to you represents your goal.
Now close your eyes (after reading this through, and of course, when it's
safe
and appropriate to do so--not while you're driving your car or riding on a
mowing tractor or cooking or playing with ginsu knives...) and imagine
your
timeline spread out in front of you. Straightened out (if it's curvy) and
placed on the floor. Imagine yourself floating up, up over your timeline.
You
can see it! All of it. Stretching like a beautiful ribbon or road beneath
you.
Orient yourself facing towards the future. Bring your goal with you,
holding
onto it. Now imagine floating gently, comfortably, slowly forward in time
as
you move in the direction of your future. At the precise moment when you
want
your goal to manifest, and your unconscious mind can guide you in this, drop
it!
Let go of the goal and watch it fall and settle itself into your timeline!
Embed itself. Become part of it. Notice all the changes, including the
ripples
moving in each direction through time this causes. Your goal is now a part
of
your future, inevitable. Like taxes. :) It's coming! Know that and feel
good!
Now, orient your body back toward the present and past. Float again,
gently,
towards the here and now. When you are directly above the here and now
location
on your timeline, float down back into this moment, this place, wide awake
and
aware, alert, feeling GREAT, all systems returning to normal, sitting
before
your computer, or lying on your bed, on whereever you are doing this
exercise.
If you had adjusted your timeline to a new orientation for this exercise,
such
as flattening it, allow it to "spring back" into it's preferred shape and
location.
Your unconscious mind will now guide and nudge you to do what you have to do
to
get your well-formed goal. The turning point has happened in your mind, and
the
steps towards that goal become clear, and you find yourself not just
seeing
steps, but STEPPING. Moving. Taking action. Enjoy your new success!
